INSTRUCTION:
 While anyone can do it, a lot of people
don’t realize
just how many things have to go right to catch a trout on a fly
rod. One of the greatest skills Fightmaster Fly Fishing possesses
is the ability to teach people how to fly fish. With a common
sense approach and the ability to relate to every type of personality,
you simply will not find better instruction anywhere. For the
most comprehensive introduction to fly fishing, we recommend
combining one of our instructional services with a guided trip.
Casting Instruction: For most people,
casting is the biggest, initial stumbling block when beginning
to fly fish. And let’s
face it, it is the true physical skill in fly fishing. While
we can teach casting on the water during a guided trip, you’re
not doing yourself any favors. Casting is a skill that will be
more easily learned without the distraction of water, fish, and
trees. All you really need is an open area, and we will gladly
come to your house or meet you at a nearby park to provide you
with instruction. This can be anything from introducing beginners
to fly casting to teaching or fine tuning more advanced techniques
to experienced anglers. This is a great thing to do if you’re
just getting started, if you’re a novice and planning a
guide trip, or even if you’re experienced but just want
to get those loops tightened before your upcoming saltwater trip.
Two Hour Introduction: Also a service that can be provided at
your home or at a nearby park, this is designed as a crash course
in fly fishing for beginners. We will not only introduce you
to the basics of fly casting, we will give you an overview of
the sport and its equipment, discuss basic theory, discuss basic
aquatic entomology and fly selection, demonstrate essential knots,
and give advice on purchasing equipment to get started in the
sport.
One Day Schools: Basically, our one day schools are souped-up
versions of our two hour lessons. You will simply receive a lot
more time and detail on each subject, and will walk away with
enough knowledge and skill to competently get started in the
sport of fly fishing. This service can be arranged privately
or for a group. We will periodically have scheduled group schools
listed on this website, or we can customize schools for groups
such as businesses. Of course we can also arrange a private school
for an individual.
